How Far in Advance Should You Book a Removal Company?

You do not need a finished inventory to start a quote. You need a date window, two postcodes, and an honest note about stairs and parking.

As soon as a date is more than a hope

Solicitors talk in weeks, then days. Month-end Fridays and the weeks around school holidays are the ones that disappear first, because other households are completing in the same window. A Malvern-to-Malvern move can still be planned later than a long-distance one, but hillside streets and tight parking do not get easier by waiting.

If you only have “late June” or “the week after exchange”, send that. A useful reply can say what else we need, rather than asking you to wait until every box is taped.

What can wait

• Exact box counts
• Which bedroom the dining chairs will go in
• Photographs of a stairwell, if we ask after the first reply

What should not wait

• Both postcodes
• Floor level, lift or a long carry
• Whether a vehicle can stand near the door
• Pianos, stone-top tables and other awkward pieces
• Furniture that is not coming — that belongs on removal + clearance, not as a note on the morning

If the date moves

Completion slips. Say so as soon as you know. We would rather rearrange a pencilled day than arrive at a house that still has a chain attached to it.

For the day itself, use the moving-day notes once keys and parking are real.
